Can these foam planks be reused? Yes – that’s part of their main advantage. Polyethylene foam planks are built for reuse across dozens of shipments. They resist compression “memory” (less than 5% creep after 168 hours under load), meaning they spring back and maintain cushioning performance shipment after shipment. Many BGR customers incorporate them into returnable packaging loops, dramatically reducing how often packaging needs to be replaced. 
Are polyethylene foam planks recyclable? Absolutely. BGR’s foam planks are made from recyclable #4 LDPE plastic. While you can’t toss them in a standard blue bin, they can be recycled through specialized foam recyclers or any program that accepts LDPE materials. In practice, their long lifespan means you won’t need to recycle them often – but when you do, the material can be reclaimed rather than landfilled.
How does foam density (1.7 pcf vs. higher) impact performance? Density affects stiffness and load capacity. A 1.7 pcf plank offers an ideal balance of cushion and strength for most applications, handling most heavy equipment with ~6 psi compressive strength. Higher densities (e.g. 2.2 pcf) can support even greater loads (~8.5 psi) but are slightly heavier and more costly.
